Social media art
I recently visited the Science Museum in London. At its heart, this is a living museum dedicated to all this technology and with a strong bias towards the environment. It’s one of the most fascinating places, showcasing everything from the evolution of space travel, our use of materials such as plastics, to communications development.
Walking around, I felt like a kid again, wanting to absorb everything. I was naturally drawn to the communications section, which highlights how technology has evolved over a relatively short period.
Here I found one of the best exhibits. A great visual reminder of the role the Internet and social media is now play in our everyday lives. It’s called the Listening Post because it literally pulls in fragments of conversations from the web, displayed across a mesh of small screens. Content flashes up across the screen, set to music and is uncensored. A unique chance to view a mass of conversations from chat rooms in real-time.
If you get a chance to go I recommend a visit. And keep an eye on developments. The Science Museum is getting a revamp over the next few years.
